The all-in-one public transport card that we have been dreaming about is scheduled to launch in June of next year after it was delayed in August, according to the Transport and Traffic Policy Plan Office (OTP)

The dream of slimming down your wallet might come true next year as legislation to support the operation of common ticketing systems is being drafted to support the "mangmoom card" or "spider card" — a single card designed to be used on all public transportation.

However, OTP Director Chaiwat Thongkamkoon said that the card will only work with the BTS, MRT, MRT Purple Line and the Airport Link when it's launched in June next year, Daily News reported.

It's being built. Go and take a look. Much of the elevated track is up and many of the stations are well on their way to completion. I have no idea of the opening date though.

It's the Red Line, systems contracts only just awarded so expect opening 2019-2020. Civil work is well adrift though, look at Bang Sue Grand station, I have fears it won't be ready this decade :(

And yes, it will accept the Mangmoom card :)

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Now we can start fantasizing about a card reader in every aircon bus.....    in our dreams
