Accident Van Carrying Myanmar Workers Crashes Into Tree After Driver Falls Asleep

A passenger van carrying Myanmar migrant workers crashed into a tree in Kamphaeng Phet province on the morning of 13 July, after the Thai driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, injuring multiple passengers including one seriously. A two-month-old infant miraculously escaped unscathed. The crash occurred at approximately 07.00, on Phahonyothin Road (northbound) in Moo 2, Ban Pruek Makrut, Tha Phutsa subdistrict, Khlong Khlung district. Police and rescue teams from the Sawang Kamphaeng Phet Foundation responded to the scene. They found a white Toyota van (registration from Bangkok) with its front-left side crumpled against a large tree. Ten Myanmar nationals were travelling in the van, along with the 49-year-old Thai driver, Mr Samran, from Khon Kaen province. One woman, seated beside the driver, was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed using hydraulic cutting equipment before being rushed to Khlong Khlung Hospital. One passenger was seriously injured and several others sustained minor injuries. Remarkably, a two-month-old baby girl travelling with her mother was unharmed. As rescue workers assisted other victims, the mother was seen calmly feeding the infant, who remained quiet and alert throughout the ordeal. Initial investigations revealed that the van had picked up migrant workers from Chonburi, Rayong and Bangkok with the intention of dropping them off at Mae Sot district in Tak province, a major border crossing into Myanmar. Mr Samran stated that all passengers were legal migrant workers with valid documentation. He admitted to dozing off at the wheel after driving for two consecutive nights, departing Bangkok at around 01.00. “I was exhausted. I’ve been making these runs for two nights straight. I fell asleep without realising it,” he told police. One Myanmar passenger, who spoke limited Thai, confirmed that the group had boarded the van in Chonburi and were returning home to Myanmar via Mae Sot. He said he noticed the driver nodding off moments before the crash. Police took Mr Samran for drug testing as a precaution and instructed mildly injured passengers to report to Khlong Khlung police station for document verification. Authorities are also investigating whether the driver’s account about the legality of the migrant workers holds up under scrutiny. Adapted by Asean Now from Matichon 2025-07-14 -

Trump wants to revoke the citizenship of Rosie O" Donnell, even though she was born in USA
No, actually I divorced them and got custody of my children, but you can add that to the countless assumptions you make here. And by the way, commenting on people who actually can have a wife and or girlfriends while it's something you haven't attained, further makes you look foolish. Paying for women doesn't take any skills. -

Crime Man Arrested for Arson on Teachers’ Homes and Health Officer’s Residence
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately setting fire to government residences in Surat Thani province, destroying three houses and partially damaging a traditional Thai massage building. Police said the incident occurred around 11.45 on 11 July in Moo 7, Sin Charoen subdistrict, Phrasaeng district. The blaze destroyed two teacher residences at Ban Bang Rhiang School and one house belonging to a staff member of the local Health Promotion Hospital (known locally as Ror Por Sor). A nearby Thai traditional massage centre also sustained fire damage. Pol Maj Gen Sermpan Sirikhong, Provincial Police Commander of Surat Thani, confirmed that investigators from Phrasaeng Police Station gathered sufficient evidence to obtain an arrest warrant from the Wiang Sa Provincial Court. The suspect, identified as Mr Apichart, a local resident of Moo 7 in the same subdistrict, was arrested on 12 July on charges of arson against both private and public property. According to police reports, Mr Apichart has confessed to the crimes and was taken to the scenes to re-enact the events. Officers said he broke into the health officer’s residence through the back door and used fire to ignite items inside the house. He then walked behind the Thai massage building, broke a rear window using an iron bar, reached in to unlock it, and entered the premises. There, he allegedly used bedding to start a second fire. That blaze was fortunately extinguished before causing major damage. The suspect then crossed the road and proceeded to the adjacent teacher accommodation, breaking in through the windows of two separate houses and setting them alight from within. The entire sequence of events took place when the premises were unoccupied. Pol Maj Gen Sermpan said investigators have been ordered to urgently determine Mr Apichart’s motive for targeting government buildings in quick succession. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
