And? So? How is this different from anywhere in the West. very different. the difference is they have on going relationships with more than person. not one night stands, not starting a new relationship as the current one declines. this is certainly different to the culture in my country. and this is one of the dichotomies of thailand; females claim they hate the way thai males behave and yet so many thai females are prepared to put up with being the 'other' gf or sex friend. they enable and then complain. Loaded
5 pages and no mention of 'mia chao'. This is a rented wife. Western men marrying bar girls are marrying mia chaos. The financial demands are a little more upfront in this kind of relationship and it would be ridiculous for the woman to think that she needs to remain loyal to this one guy. He pays, he gets a wife. She doesn't love him, and he's always going to be a punter. The more she can get, the better. Her family and friends will know and regard the husband as a mug. He will be ridiculed behind, and sometimes in front of, his face. However, coming from a society where this kind of relationship doesn't exist as blatantly, the guy thinks she wouldn't be with him unless she loved him - lol. A gik is just a fun partner. Money isn't a necessary part of the relationship. If it is, this type of relationship moves into mia chao territory. nausea
Young Thai males will often joke about having "gigs", in a half-serious, male bravado, sort of way; I would have serious doubts about the veracity of this survey. I mean, what do you expect them to say.
