My friend SETV expire January 13. Is it too early to apply for an extension and re-entry in CM? Leaving in 1 week to return January 15. Upon returning could achieve a VE on G7 passport but re-entry would eliminate the need for fly-onward ticket. 

I doubt very much they will do the 30 day extension over a month early. Normally 2 weeks is the earliest they will do it.
