Marriage visa in Savannakhet - still like a year ago?

Featured Replies

It's that time of the year again. I hate the paperwork of the 1-year extension so I'm getting a multiple-entry visa from Savannakhet for the 4th year in a row this or next week. Is everything still the same? No surprises?

I know they're closed on the 12th but other than that they should be open, right?

I'm taking my wife and our baby and this paperwork (and 2 copies of everything):

- My passport

- Her passport & ID card

- Her Tabien Baan

- Baby's Birth Certificate

- 2 Passport Photos of me

- Marriage Certificate (original)

Is there anything else needed? Bank book I'm taking (showing money coming from outside Thailand every month) but I heard none are required, right?

Do I need the Kor-Ror-2 from the amphur to show we're still married or is the marriage certificate enough?

Marriage certificate plus a copy, signed copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card are the basic required documents.

No financial proof is needed.

After the 12th there are no more holidays until new years.

Bank letter Proof of 400k in the bank or embassy document showing monthly pension

Not needed to apply for a multiple entry non-o visa in Savannakhet.

As ubonjoe said no need for financial proof. I was there a month and a half ago and everything was as before. I did however bring a Kor-Ror-2 which I handed in with the other paperwork and it was not handed back to me, as was the case with some other unneccessary paperwork I handed in last year.

Unless it's a huge hassle for you to get it I would definitively bring it along just in case (but not hand it in without being asked). TIT, after all.

As said no financial proof you don't need mrs passport (unless she's going with you)

Marriage  cert and copy both sides signed by you both. (don't forget to show origional they won't ask to see it, guy didn't show origional they  took his paper work. He was in queue before me to pick up his passport next day no visa was refused beacuse they did not see origional marriage cert. I did notice after they had seen mine he wrote on top of application form multi and Marriage certificate seen.)

Copies of house book and ID wife to sign.

Kor ror 2 I took just copy  Both of us signed (had origional but didn't show)

And of course your filled out visa Application form for  and two pictures glued to form.

If I was you I wouldn't go on 13th will be busier than normal as it's closed on 12th so they get two days worth of applicants.

I was there a week ago had copies of wife's I'd house registration and marriage certificate copy and original that's all didn't ask for anything else it was packed some guys missed out because you can only apply between 9 and 11am so get there early savannakhet is getting very popular the Tuk Tuk  guys are making a killing there at the moment cheers

Really? Why is that? I have been making all my plans for marraige and first "visa" around this 2 month thing. Was going to do it all next April but if that is the case maybe I could get it done this month. The 400 has only been in aince late last month. I travel on 30 day exempt entries but looking to get a multiple entry "marriage visa" in future.

Savanakhet do not require any financial proof to get a non o based on marriage. So you could get it whenever you have all the documents listed in the thread. rember you need another picture for visa on arrival in Laos 1500bht. Apply for your non o visa morning 0900 to 1100 pick up next day 1400 to 1600

You are confusing the requirements to apply for a one year extension based upon marriage you apply for at immigration with getting a non-o visa.

Savannakhet asks for no financial proof. Penang asks to see the 400k baht but there no requirement for it be in bank any amount of time.

Ok. So to get the initial non o I will still need 400k in the bank for 2 months no matter where I go?

If you get a non o multi entry based on marriage  (from Savanakhet you do not require proof of funds at all)  this will allow you 90 days after 90 days you do a border run and get another 90 days you do this every 90 days for the life of the Visa. Or after 90 days go to immigration and extend for 60 days to visit wife 1900 bht relevant forms and take wife along. Then you have to do a border run.

OR get a single entry non o from savanakhet extend by 60 at immigration that will give you five months then within the last 30 days of that go to immigration with all the paperwork (plenty of threads on here about it) and get a one year extension based on marriage. Then after 90 days you only have to go to immigration to do 90 day report. If you go down this route you will need to show 400000 in bank for I belive two months for first extension then 3 months every subsequent extension.

No

In Savannakhet you will not need financial proof to get single or multiple entry visa. In Vientiane you can get single entry non-o with no financial proof.

You only need the 400k baht in the bank for 2 moths to apply for a one year extension of stay you apply for at an immigration office.
