hi all
my son was born in England 11 weeks ago.
he had his normal 8 wee vaccination in England .
At nine weeks he traveled to Thailand with his mum .
he needs his 2nd stage injections ( 12 weeks ) next week . my wife took to the baby clinic in Thailand and was told that the injection in Thailand dont cover all things the English one dose . The English 5 in 1 vaccine covers

diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and infection with Haemophilus influenzae type B bacteria (Hib) in babies. Hib can cause serious diseases such as meningitispneumonia and septicaemia (blood poisoning)

they also get Retrovirus injection

im not sure what the thai vaccine covers , dose any one know ?

also surely its possible (with cash) to get the right injections that follow his first set of injections. the brand names are Pediacel and Infanrix IPV Hib.

anyone have any advice or experienced the same thing .

thanks in advance

Neither is available in Thailand according to the MIMS database.

You're going to have to go with a set of different vaccinations.  Best course of action in my opinion would be to make an appointment at a decent hospital to discuss the options.  In the meantime you might find the following helpful.  (Can't vouch for its accuracy, though.)

It sounds like your wife went to a government hospital. There is a difference between the vaccines available free of charge at government hospitals and the vaccines available from all sources; there are additional vaccines available from private hospitals.

Infarix Hexa is here and contains 6 vaccines : the same 5 your baby already received plus the  Hepatitis B vaccine. If the baby will be living in Thailand or spending much time there, should get that as well. Rotavirus vaccine is separate.

The government vaccine schedule does not currently include HIB or rotavirus, but does include Hepatitis B.

So there are a variety of choices:

- get the free DPT/polio/Hep B vaccine at a government hospital/clinic and then go to a private facility to get the rotavirus and HIB .

- go to a private facility for the combined DPT/polio/HIB/HepB vaccine and separate rotavirus/

-(if you do nto want Hep B) go to a private facility for separate DPT/polio, HIB and rotavirus vaccines.

Where in Thailand is the baby? If in Bangkok suggest this clinic which is run by a bilingual British GP who would be familiar with the UK immunization schedule:

An observation I visited this clinic, obviously for different reason, run by an English trained and qualified doctor, made appointment online and when I was there, it was exceedingly nice to talk to a doctor familiar with the UK way
