I just took delivery of an Everest with sync 3 entertainment system ...

When connecting my iPhone through the car play interface, I cannot use google maps ... apparently, only android phones will project google maps onto the sync 3 system, not iPhones ...

Has anyone found a way around this ?

Not yet but I thought this might change in the near future via update for the IOS
