Hi All,

I fancy a one month in holiday in Australia in 2017. Would like to take my Laos girlfriend with me. We live together in Bangkok.

I've spent an hour surfing the web but not got alot of info back.

She's 23 and a student at an English language school.

I did try and setup a joint SCB bank account a year ago, but staff wanted a work permit which she doesn't have anymore.

(Ps I'm a Brit)

Any tips anybody ?

Cheers,

SB.

Once you will see how hard the Oz government make it for a young Asian girl

with no secured job, no money in the bank and no property, you'll unfancy

yourself pretty quickly from the idea... but hey, try your luck with them, you'll

never know for sure until you try it.....

It's not that hard to get a tourist visa.

If you put in a decent application you should be ok.

Depending on the circumstances.

I'm pretty sure way over 95% of applications result in visas.

Just a matter of interest:

1) What is her current immigration / visa status in Thailand?

2) Is she applying for the visa in Laos or Thailand?

Education Visa in Thailand, one year English study.

Can apply either but Thailand would be easier ....

From the vfs Bangkok site:

Please also note that if you are not a Thai citizen or resident, you may still apply at the Australian Visa Application Centre in Thailand, however the Australian Embassy, Bangkok may need to transfer your application to another Australian Embassy (High commission or Consulate-General). This may take additional time and you will not collect the decision from AVAC.

I'm pretty sure applications for Laos citizens are processed by the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
