Anybody seen yet?  Just saw it last night.  Pretty good story.  Decent cast.  But the special effects was off-the-charts.  Best I've ever seen.

I saw it about a week ago. Really enjoyed it. Perhaps the first half hour was a little slow, but then again there was a lot of new characters to introduce.  The final act and ending though was completely epic.

Waiting download, saw there's others l've not seen as well. 

Waiting download? I refuse to purchase pirated content, not available via official providers as far as I know.

I was bored, must have slept through half of it was to dam long my grand sons were happy though....tired old story line just changed the actors and sets, you guys are easily entertained.

 

First Star Wars movie was a classic of course and it went down hill from there, saw 2 and 3 as well and thats when i bailed out, I'm not fan off follow ups they are never anywhere as good.

Actually, no.  Bunch of new characters....and some old ones.  It's supposed to be the prequel to the very first Star Wars (between episodes III and IV).

It's a childrens film. 

 

Entirely appropriate that it entertained your grand children but not you.

A bit like different reading ages, which don't always correspond to a persons age in years.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the timeline. It takes place right before the first ever movie.

The movie was called The Wizard of Oz. To this day it's still one of my favorites, and in my opinion one of the best films ever made.

I enjoyed it - but it was a bit like 'Saving Private Ryan in Space'.

 

 

hated it,,, loved all the others,,, terrible story just a set up for the next movie     cast ok i guess, couldnt get any of the old cast to participate wonder why      and the special effects were cheap and and not up to standards of previous star wars,, i would have left mid movie ( which ive only done 3 times in my life) except i thought everyone was enjoying it  but when it ended everyone had the same feelings as me

Glad I didn't pay for myself and GF to watch at movie theater.

A few years ago I bought a new edition of Wizard of Oz.   Still a great film.  When my mother took me to see it when I was about 6, I was most disappointed - it was black and white!  but it soon changed.

 

Film was made the same year as me!   (1939).

 

People still refer to 'yellow brick road', munchkins, etc.

Ha. That's quite funny.

 

I watched the Wizard of Oz for the second time when I was about 12 or 13, and couldn't understand why it was black and white. My earlier, childhood memory was as technicolor "turbocharged" as you could get.

 

And then my dad explained that it changes to color when Dorothy ends up in Munchkin City.

 

Were you really born in 1939? Wow! Maybe you know that Gone with the Wind was made in 1939. That, too, is a classic.

What on Earth are you talking about?  The first Star Wars?  The special effects in Rogue One was far superior to any of the previous Star Wars (well the most recent was on par).  I'm pretty certain George Lucas would agree.

I thought it was alright, some good nods to the other movies/lines etc and some good little moments the new re-programmed imperial droid is about the best new character in it, some of the mass attack scenes near end are good but the depth of characters was very lacking. 

 

So somewhere in a galaxy far far away there is a english speaking dark hero with a heavy spanish accent getting his thing down...? The lead girl was quite good and the droid for me, I enjoyed it but I have always liked Star Wars, was just a spin off from original but nowhere near as good, also the Peter Cushing character revitalised, how they do that is ait an actor double or some sort of CGI? that was good, thought last movie was better overall

Saw it opening day. It was just OK...better than some of the more recent ones, but not even in the same galaxy as those from a long time ago. As mentioned by DMaxDan above...the ending was epic and was the best part.

 

Thought last December's installment was pretty mediocre...EXCEPT for Harrison Ford and Chewbacca, who were the highlights!

Worst movie I have ever seen. Seriously!  I saw it on Christmas day. I only went because my friend had bought tickets. Fell asleep most of the movie. I can't believe this genre is still going on. The only good Stars Wars movie was the first one that came out in the mid 70s.

ps its classification in Melbourne was PG i think well what ever it was grandson 1 is 12 grandson 2 is 8 and they were the youngest in the audience they were not meant to be there under the classification that was advertised...i didn't see anything even sleeping through parts of it that children would find problemic....

 

And yes i think you would need a young brain to be able to digest it and call it entertainment which says a lot about my 66 year old brother inlaw who just cant get to these types of flicks fast enough...

Some of us grow up you know, its called evolving, maturing, its ok to understand and appreciate and put it into context of a time past but gees fella your a mature person now, that move was made for a certain audience as was Rough 1, look forward into middle distance and smile, comes a new world, Action moves and shoot them up are escape moves for the slightly more mature in mind....

"Taste?"  I'd be curious to know what sort of movies that someone of your "sophistication" would appreciate.  I'm not a movie critic--I see movies as pure entertainment.  Unlike you, I'm not rigidly confined to any genre of movies.  All that matters to me is that they're well made.  From Sound of Music to Terminator to Shawshank to Ben-Hur to Saving Private Ryan to Wall Street to Charlie Wilson's War to Animal House etc., etc.  No Star Wars movie is ever going to win an Academy Award for Best Picture, the stodgy critics would never allow that.  But it will certainly entertain...and make a boatload of money.

You are absolutely spot on. I'm a mature adult male, but the 12 year old boy I was will never leave me. Who the hell wants to grow old.
