Extra people in cars/pickups is the law going to be imposed?

Featured Replies

My understanding is that it is illegal to carry passengers in the back of a pickup as well as exceed the number of people in a car i.e. 5 seat car can only carry up to 5 passengers, no more.. However, clearly the BIB have never cracked down on this. Today, my wife tells me this has been in the news recently and it will be cracked down on.

I searched various sources and threads in English but cant see anything.. Has anyone else heard anything and shed some light on this. Does make me wonder a real effort to increase safety or just to collect more revenue for the police? If the former, surely it will impact the economy as how will all those workers get to work who currently go in the back of pickups?

And lastly, what about motorbikes? Will they also crack down on bikes carrying 3 or more passengers? Surely not..... ?

Frankly l would say it only really matters and depends where you live,  too much work and hassle for police in rural areas.

The people who would normally catch a ride in the back of a pickup would be forced to use mini buses. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
