It's about NASA doing an analysis of the recent torrential rains in the south.

NASA measures the amount of rainfall by a special satellite system.

 

The maximum amount of rainfall within the period of Jan 5 to 12 was 700 (!) mm (27.6 inches) over the gulf.

Maximum amount over land was 500 mm in Bang Saphan District (Prachuap Khiri Khan province).

Some might remember the pictures of the collapsed bridges.

 

700 or even 500 mm is more than one year of rainfall in many parts of the world.
