If firm not finalising relief steps for subscribers over channel cancellations

BANGKOK: -- THE BROADCASTING regulator yesterday threatened TrueVisions with higher penalties if it refuses to finalise remedial measures for subscribers affected by the cancellation of HBO’s six movie channels early this month.

“The broadcasting committee of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has agreed to order TrueVisions to negotiate with its subcommittee on consumer rights protection within seven days,” said Pakdee Manaves, deputy secretary-general of the NBTC.

After the no-show by the country’s largest pay-TV operator at last week’s meeting of the subcommittee and representatives from affected consumers, the broadcasting panel says it wants to solve this problem as quickly as possible.

Whenever  you see "may" in any headline about anybody that should

be punished in one way or another, you just know nothing is going to

happen, same with the terms like probe, mull,.often used.

For us Platinum Package subscribers, the promised "1000 Trueyou Points"  according to their own agreement, amounts to only 100 baht cash value...  Plus up here in Isaan there are virtually no merchants where you can use "Trueyou Points"...   The lesser package subscribers at least get an up grade for a month,  worth about 300 to 500 baht...

True is pulling a Dhammakayo..., to the indignation of a government agency..., soon the foaming at the mouth will start followed by spastic seizures.

Another committee with "mullings" and a new plea to True.

Now if True was owned by Thaksin family it would be shutdown immediately and all assets confiscated.

True failed to show up at a pre-arranged meeting last week. Okay, simple remedy. If they are so arrogant as to think they are answerable to no-one shut them down until they do show up. See how many customers that leaves them with. Really, the company is like a dinosaur in today's world.

We are on the super family package and have not been upgraded. Actually we have lost several other channels, in particular BeIn Sports. If we get the upgrade we might get them back.

Partly off subject but I am getting weary of the posters that say use the internet. I have no desire to plug our only computer to the TV in another room. It has better uses.

This is probably Trues undoing  I left True for Streaming and I am totally pleased No bull with it No scrolling comments from True

No switching channels to other numbers ( so confusing)

No huge bills at the end of the month I am paying less than 33% of what I used to pay True

I do not understand why others do not go streaming and stay with True

Once I decided to Cancel and informed True of this they all of a sudden said they can offer me a better rate

What a load of crap that once This is like (what do I do since the horse is out of the barn) offering to little too late

It would have been nice to have true come up and say WE are going to give you great service and reduce your price

They simply do not get it  and this is why I believe True will eventually bite the dust  Terrible customer care and what really riled me was when they

would have the audacity to charge me a reconnection fee on an over lapsed  bill . I was out of the country.

They really need to get in touch with today's consumer  not yesterday's model They are not the only game in town

HEY TRUE THIS COMMENT IS FOR YOU

These are the real reasons you are loosing customers Time to pony up and see what your customers really want Not what you think you can do to your customer

I am only with true for the EPL.  As a result of the movie change without notice I have changed from Platinum to the Gold package.   Internet where I am in Chiang Rai is via the phone line and is fairly slow, hence remaining with true for the tv.

500???...some people on on packages ...once expired they will not renew..and those on month to month will slowly be dropping off....maybe only 500 today...but within a year their subscriber numbers will plummet...there are way to many other internet options available that are a lot cheaper and offer a much better quality product...The "Truetantic" just hit an iceberg and will be sinking soon!

Called in to the local TrueVision shop and asked about the 'compensation' for Platinum subscribers.  "You got 1000 points, but they are not worth anything" was the reply from the disinterested assistant.

Said I wanted to cancel the contract;  "OK, but system is closed now (it was 8:30 PM), come back tomorrow and cancel".

History has shown us that monopolies don't work (look at the Lada and Trabant cars .... and Microsoft) and now we have a True Coffee Shop where nobody orders the coffee, True electronics shops where nobody buys phones or tablets and a TV service that shows channels nobody wants.

Competition is definitely a good thing.

Cable TV these days is overpriced crap even with HBO. With online options growing fast, True will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Care to nominate what "soon" might mean?

As soon as the death spiral of diminishing channels and quitting customers causes them to run out of cash.

I was looking for an actual date. Within a six months' window will be close enough
