Corruption threatens Swiss representations

An audit of Swiss diplomatic representations has shown that 33 embassies and consulates all over the world face potential problems with corruption.

The Sonntagszeitung newspaper was able to get hold of the confidential list of representations the foreign ministry believes most likely to be faced with corruption. Beijing, Moscow and Mumbai top the list.

A ministry spokesman confirmed that it also included New Delhi, Istanbul, Kiev, Belgrade, Pristina and Bangkok. Fourteen of the representations are in Asia, 10 in Africa and five in eastern Europe.
