Deprenyl

Featured Replies

Is it possible to buy Deprenyl (also called Selegeline) over the counter (without prescription) in Thailand?
If so, do you know if the sold version of the drug is made by Jumex? Or in other words, can you buy the Jumex version of the drug over the counter?

Three brands of Selegeline are available in Thailand:  Julab, Jumex and Sefmex.

Jumex is not a manufacturer, it is a brand name for selegeline made by Sanofi-Aventis. It will cost significantly more than either of the other two brands which are locally made generic equivalents.

Can be bought OTC, but will need to find a large pharmacy as smaller ones won't carry it.

@Sheryl I have called many pharmacies in bkk but none of them had neither of the brand names that you wrote... I think they don't have that medicine. Boots was one of the pharmacy nets I've called. Who sells it?

Boots is more of a seller of cosmetics than a pharmacy chain in Thailand and their stock is extremely limited (ditto Watsons), never the place to look for anything except for the most common drugs.

You need a large pharmacy. A Thai pharmacy.

In Bangkok places to try would be:

Fascino's. located on Thonburi side of the river, near Siriraj hospital. There is another large pharmacy quite nerar it, don't know the name. You might be able to call Fascino and ask if they have it.

Sukhumvit near Soi 2, large pharmacy sort of across fro mthe expressway entrance.

Roong Rote Pharmacy (รุ่งโรจน์เภสัช).Soi On-Nut (Sukhumvit Soi 77), away from Sukhumvit Road, about 40m on right side.

A number of pharmacies on Ratchawithi near Victory Monument (east of the Monument, opposite the hospital). No English spoken and not always very congenial to farang, but if you perservere with a smile you might succeed.

i can't gurantee any of these have it but they are the best bets.

As explained earlier in this thread, Deprenyl brand is not available in Thailand. Brands of  Selegeline  available in Thailand are: Julab, Jumex and Sefmex.  Ask for those, or ask by the generic.

Best bet in Pattaya (though no guarantee) would be Fascino in North Road.

Yes .. I read the post and asked for the Thai brands.
I went to Fascino on South Pattaya road .. no luck
.. I will try the one on North Pattaya road..
. You would think they would all be linked via a common database . . But... lol

The  North Pattaya road is the largest.

If they don't have it, it is probably not to be found in Pattaya. In which case you'll need to come to Bangkok. If so to avoid a lot of futile running aorund suggest you call the distributor and ask for names of pharmaciies they have supplied to

Julab distributor = Biopharm  tel.png Tel: (+66) 2258 8888, (+66) 2258 9999

Sefmex distributor = Medline

  Tel: (+66) 2026 3138
