Land tax on leases

Now getting land tax demands from City Hall on 30 yr leases backdated 10 yrs to start of lease. Big sums involved. Anyone else having this problem?

Its not uncommon for the tenant to pay the local taxes on commercial property, there is usually a clause in the lease. A mystery why they have taken ten years to send a bill. If its not in your lease, you should be able to hand it over to the owner.

They often wait some years before collecting taxes. So they can charge a lot for interest and penalties.

The land tax has to be paid by the owner of the land. The property tax has be paid by the house owner.

When you say "land tax" you are not being specific. What is the actual name of the tax?
