Is this doable to stay 5 months in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hi friends,

Do you think this is doable ...?

Enter in Thailand without Visa (so stay 30 days)

Go to immigration, pay 1900, get 30 more days

Then go to Penang (or any other?), pay a visa service (seems easier), get a 60 visa

Then go to immigration, pay 1900, get 30 more days

Total is about 5 months. Do you think this is quite a sure plan without surprise?

Optional questions :

Any other idea?

As I don't know my exact back home date, do you think I can go with a 1 way ticket, and buy a cheap 1000THB ticket from Bangkok to somewhere, to show the company in my country when boarding in the plane?

Please note my passport has a few ED visa but a few years ago. No recent Thai activity in my passport.

Is it a need to go with a new blank passport?

Thank you for your help!

So long as you have an onward ticket to somewhere within 30 days you're good to go.

With no recent Thailand entries in your passport you will be fine.

Do consider getting a tourist visa before your first trip, no issues with needing an onwards flight. Once you know your plans you can then either do a border hop for an exemption or get another tourist visa.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

It seems you have a good plan.

No need for a new passport. Your previous history would appear in immigration's database even with a new passport since they will be linked. Getting a new passport only helps if you have several tourist visas and  are trying to get another one at an embassy or consulate.

you need proof of finance and a thai address as well for a single entry visa 60 days.

That depends upon where it is applied for

If you can, apply for a Tourist Visa before you come.  It's free right now, and greatly reduces possible hassles upon initial entry.

To be on the safe-side, especially since you have Ed Visas in your history, you should have the equivalent of 20K Baht in Cash or Travelers Checks on your person when you arrive (Visa-Exempt or with a Tourist Visa).   Many in Immigration believe that "Ed Visa" = "Illegal Worker."  If you are questioned, show the cash immediately (whether asked or not) and do not mention you intend to stay for 5 months.

I took a METV from my own country for 7 months stay and it is working good so far all i got to do is one last visa run and it will be done the proper way and thanks to Thai visa expert like Ubon Joe and other that helped me navigate the best way to do and be perfectly legit.

I had just started looking for VISA informations and I am a little confused.

Can you tell me what means:  Go to immigration, pay 1900, get 30 more days  ?

What you pay for exactly?

^Processing to get aproved for 30day extension to your existing visa or exempt entry. If approved (normally are) you get a stamp with new date added in your passport.
