You can only get 3 months max for a tourist visa online or at the Bkk embassy (that was the case in 2015). Any longer you  need a letter from your employer

But easy to extend when there. I met many people on long stay visa's when there.

Yes, seems like the new e-Visa has trashed the immigration website and 2 additional sources of the e-Visa. application.   Visa will be issued directly by immigration for you to print yoursel

  • Nationals of the following countries, who bear ordinary passport, may enter Viet Nam without a tourist visa.     Countries Period of stay

They have info, but i presume a visa would be bought here in Thailand. They don't issue 3 month visa's, not sure about 1 month though.

I got a 3 month tourist multiple entry last year online

Strange, as when I was in Perth last month I did the visa online there no problem.

Are u trying the  vietnamvisa.govt.vn website  ???

It's working fine here in Thailand at the moment

I don't think you can be on a retirement or leisure visa in VN (unlike Thailand where your yearly extension costs 1900b).

As I remember, staying more than 3 months needs a business visa or teacher visa (same thing??). If you had a real or fake letterhead it was never a problem to extend. The whole thing runs on money.

I'm not sure, but I don't think VN has an elite 10,000US permanent visa or a MM2H-type thing.

that vietnamvisa  site is a agent to get letter of approval

then still pay for visa at airport on arrival

what i understand is the new evisa direct from govt

is one visa fee only not the private agent approval letter

cheers

Go to  www.vietnamvisa.govt.vn

Easy as and cheap

Been using them the last few years.  If you are flying in ok, as you get the visa put in your passport on arrival. Your gf gets 30 days as this are visa exempt

thank you for this, very much appreciated

I have used  www.vietnamvisa.govt.vn  last year & last month. Never a problem.

Easy & only takes 2 days (standard)

You just print out the form they send you & fill it in & present it on arrival & they put the visa in your passport.

Even in Oz u can do it this way. I'm based in Thailand & do It this way. Much easier than having to go to the embassy in bkk

Thanks for the Info.

vthe new govt website not working yet

as they said 1feb would only pay one fee 25$ on e visa

so had to go to agent again

pay 6$for letter at Vietnam visa pro .com had letter of approval in 4hrs

there are a lot of other names off approval on your letter

but ok   all the other ones pretend to be govt

and charge higher fees for a pretend service

so strongly recommend  Vietnam visa pro .com

cheers Allan

German and UK National visiting Vietnam in April 2017 for a visit lasting 8 days. Do we need to apply for visa prior to our visit?

  • 1 year later...

I just got a one year multiple entry from VN Embassy in BKK and it was 4cm x 6cm photo, applications are there and 7200 thai baht not dollars. Passport of course. NOt busy easy service. That is about 65 usd more than the letter with stamping fee. But, I just found it so confusing online that I would much rather have a visa in my passport prior to arrival.
