Where Bambi? My brother-in-law lives just behind there and I recall visiting him about 15 years ago but saw no amusement park nearby.

Just curious if the fresh air market is still there or not? I haven't been to his house for years (the traffic was horrendous as I recall) and he said it might be closed due to lack of business last time I was there.

Oh yes "The Happyland" - amusement park.....still remember it until this day. I had to pass this amusement park everyday, from my way to and back from school. It was on Sukapiban 1 rd. in Bangkapi. This was used to be THE hottest meeting place of boys & girls in my generation. I used to attend both my kindergarden & elementary school yrs at the Somapa school located a few min from there on the same rd. My dad also donated some land for used as a public park across the street from the Happyland.

Yes...many happy moments during my childhood yrs were born there.

AFAIK Happyland (yes, the very same in Thai spelling) was/is also the name of the nearby ''council housing'' estates, about he very first for BKK-mahanakorn and BMA-owned, with the recentlly completely renovated fresh market with the samer name opened to cater for those living there. of course the mall and the Tesco only came years and years later. there still was ricefield between Bangkapi and RamKamHeang(where I now sit). As it had BMA-land a plenty, indeed loads of busroutes still end there (and the area after has much less traffic potential, so needs fewer busroutes)

I once went to Happy Land with a group of Thai men. It was an amusement park but not the sort for children. It was kind of a man's Disneyland. It was in Chonburi somewhere but I was totally lost and could never have found it back. There were a large group of bars there offering entertainment for men.
