Best Veggie Curry/Khaw Soy in Koh Pha Ngan?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've been on Koh Pha Ngan for a few weeks now, but I've yet to eat out anywhere.

I'm mostly a raw vegan, and have been doing a fruit fast since just just before the start of the month, but now I'm really craving a good spicy Thai curry/Khaw Soy and some spring rolls - yes from one extreme to the other, I know.

I don't plan on eating cooked food long term, I just want to hit up a few quality places that serve the best veggie/vegan versions of the above to get a fix.

A reliable local thai food/curry guide is surprisingly hard to find though, and I've checked a good number a websites including happycow and tripadvisor, but not everyone who posts reviews there necessarily orders a curry from the place they're reviewing.

Khaw Soy also seems surprising hard to find on the island for some reason? Is this more of a northern dish? I seemed to encounter it a lot more readily in Chiang Mai

I'm currently based in Sri Thanu, but will be in Thongsala for the rest of March, and I don't mind travelling for the quality, but would prefer to stay local ;)

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

crowbar in chaloklum does a  khao soi night when A the owners wife feels like cooking it. it is excellent and free if you are having drinks or are a regular.

trick is figuring out when it is happening, they usually announce it on facebook, and it draws a crowd.
