any decent medium quality/budget serviced condo somewhere in bkk

Featured Replies

Hi. im in BKK for a couple of months at least. Not to keen of renting long time, since i will loose the 2 months deposit on a 12m lease.

Now.. ive been around looking at a few serviced condos. everything seems very poor quality (lack of maintainance, smell etc) Browsing around didnt yield any results for me as well.

Question is:

anyone know of a reasonable priced new(ish) serviced condo or monthly rental, somewhere central in BKK for a budget of 30-40k month? low-rise on a small Soi or something would be preferred.

It really strikes me how little of these types of accommodation there is in a city where people are moving from/to everyday in thousands.

any tips here or PM would be highly appreciated since im very tired of shifting hotels every second day (in high season)

if you get a place at 30k/mo, that is 360k/yr plus a 60k deposit (most likely).  to stay on budget, rent a place for 25k/mo, that is 300k/yr and you'll pay a 50k deposit.  if you lose the deposit, you are still on your 360k/yr budget.  and i don't think the difference btwn a 30k/mo place and a 25k/mo place is all that much in terms of quality, etc...  it could even be identical and relate only to your negotiation skills and/or the desire of the apartment mgr (or condo owner) to get the unit rented.  and you may get money back from the deposit in the end.  there are decent 25k/mo one bdrm's all over the city.

the better question might be - does anyone know an honest landlord in the city ?

yea could do like that, but if im only staying a few months, it will more expensive to loose 2x deposit than just renting a hotel i think.

I had a few rentalts  in Thailand and i got my deposit back in all cases, both thai and foreign landlords. in one case i terminated the lease after 6-7 months and got 50% of the deposit back.

If you want a condo for not much longer than 2 mths. without the hassle of a deposit look at apartment hotels, which basically let you rent an apt. on a daily basis. Of course, you pay a premium over monthly rental. Many apartment bldgs. have a couple of floors set aside for this kind of daily business.

With your budget of 1000b/day it shouldn't be hard to find a decent place either central or an easy walk to a BTS station.
