Two dead, six injured as pick-up collides with 18 wheeler in Ayuthaya

Two people including a ten year old boy died when a pick-up collided with an 18 wheel truck at an intersection in Ayuthaya at 2.30am today.

The accident is under investigation.

Rong Chang police who arrived at the scene found a Toyota Vigo off the road. Under the front was the first victim - 53 year old Rasee Cha-orn. In undergrowth nearby they found a ten year old boy called Nonthawat Thongsuk. He was also dead.

Six injured people including a two year old were taken to Maharat Hospital.

Somrak Chartchumuang, 41, said he was driving his 18 wheeler from Saraburi to Angthong. He was slowing down as he approached the Jao Pluk intersection on Route 347 when the pick up went into the front of him at speed and flew off the road, he said.

Police are interviewing all witnesses again to determine what happened before proceeding with the case.
