Dear all,   my wife has just applied for a spouse settlement visa to the UK submitted today in BKK 28-2-16 at VFS   i hope all the documents and evidence were provided at the time certainly i had provided all of this to TSL the visa agents I used in the past to obtain her  6 months visitors visa to the UK in 2015 she did stay the whole 6 months.

Now at VFS the visa place she was told that it will take over 4 months to obtain this type of visa ?

Why so long i wonder, i was not there so i dont know,  however i was under the impression that it takes 6 to 8 weeks for a decision.

Has something changed ?   thanks  Wizzie

Unless eligible, and willing to pay, for the priority service applications are processed in the order they are received. So, as rasg says above, actual processing times depend upon demand; the more applications, of all categories, received at any one time, the longer each will take to reach the front of the queue and be processed.

So the processing time given is a very conservative estimate only. I am surprised, though, that VFS  told your wife it could be over four months, as UKVI usually say up to 3 months. But remember VFS are only a handling agent; they play no part in the decision making process.

Unfortunately, the information in rasg's link has not been updated since November, and it must be remembered that past performance is no guarantee of future performance; but as it says there, experience has shown that most settlement applications are processed within 30 days; remember, as it says, that's working days.

Dear Graywizard,

My wife just got her settlement visa this week having submitted her documents on February 24, and there were scores of people there applying for a visitor's visa. She was also told by VFS at the time it could take up to 4 months to process a settlement visa. I suppose it all depends on how good and a well submitted application has been presented. Hope your wife gets hers soon.

Not for processing time it doesn't.

Though obviously a poorly prepared application may delay things if the ECO seeks further documentation; if allowed to do so. In most cases they are not, so a poorly prepared application simply results in a refusal!

Just to let you know that the Australian partner visa can take 12 months to be granted. Up to 4 months is pretty good in comparison. Good luck!
