Christmas In Bangkok?

We are a group of four Americans who will be in Bangkok over Christmas and are wondering what sort of Christmas events happen in the city. In particular, we are hoping to go out for a traditional Christmas lunch or dinner (can be at a hotel or stand alone restaurant). Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks!

Not really much happening in Bkk on Christmas as it just an ordinary day for most Thais. You will probably miss the Christmas spirit back home (cause I know I do) but hey its different so could be interesting for you guys...

But there are a lot of Christmas Eve/Day Lunch/Dinners offered by hotels and restaurants. Hotel prices aren't that cheap and you should book in advance.

I recommend the:

Conrad Hotel on Wireless Road

Sheraton Hotel on Sukhumvit Asoke

Shangri-Lat Hotel by the Chaopraya River

Dusit Thani Hotel on Silom Road

Le Notre Cafe on Soi Langsuan (BTS Chidlom); there are a lot of restaurants in this area, too.

Most of these hotels have activities during the lunch/dinner like Christmas Carols, plays, etc.

You can also check out pubs on Sukhumvit Area (BTS Phrom Phong) such as: Londoners Pub, Bulls Head and Dubliners

Merry Christmas! :o

I agree with Hush, if you're here and "launched" on Christmas, you're in for a big dissapointment, there is nothing from the Christmas spirit here, last year I've felt very sad :D But this year I'm going home for the Christmas holidays :D:o

Hi. Last year we went for the Christmas buffet at the 'Plaza Athenee' (Raintree restaurant) on Wireless Road. The food was great and the whole place was beautifully decorated. We will go there again this year - book in advance!

As for the rest of Bangkok, I think that considering that Christmas is not an official holiday around here, they do a very fine job with the decorations everywhere. It's beautiful!
