work in the UK legally

Featured Replies

how does a Thai girl go about getting a Visa to stay and work in the UK ?

this lady  wants to obtain work experience.

she has been in a relationship for years, her in Thailand and him in the UK.

she does not have sufficient funds to go it alone, can she be sponsored

by her boyfriend even though they are not married

If she wants to work in the UK she will need a Tier 2 (general) visa.

Note that she will need to have a certificate of sponsorship from a licensed sponsor before she can apply to come to the UK to work.

Of course, were she to live in the UK as the partner of her boyfriend then she could work; but as they live apart she cannot apply as his unmarried partner, only as his spouse, which means marrying first, or his fiance, which means marrying within 6 months of arriving in the UK.

Spouses can work immediately they arrive in the UK, fiances cannot work until they have extended their stay after the marriage.
