Bitter cantaloupe

Featured Replies

I bought one of those sliced cantaloupes at Tops. I have a piece and it's nice and sweet. Another piece tastes bitter.... I wouldn't say rotten, but maybe as I never really had rotten cantaloupe and it looked normal. Another piece... sweet again. Take another bite and disgustingly bitter. Another piece also bitter, so I toss it in the garbage.

What are the chances I'll end up in the hospital?

Just keep eating the 1st,3rd,5th, 7th etc piece and you should be fine :)

Well, I wouldn't keep eating it.

What one worries about is not that it is rotten (that  will just give you a self-limiting bout of diarrhea) but that what you are tasting may be insecticide or other cantalope
