CHUMPHON: -- An earthquake shook villages in Chumphon's Langsuan district on Thursday night, sending locals running out of their houses in panic.

People said that quake lasted about 15 seconds. Inspection after the incident found some houses were damaged

There are altogether 248 families in the village.

Rattanawadi Srin-in, 18, said that she felt the house shaking and thought that a 18-wheel truck was running past her house. However when she found that it was a quake, she ran out of her house.

Weerasak Rodwijit, 44, said he also felt the tremor and his child said it was an earthquake, so he and his family members ran out of the house. He found his neighbours outside their houses also.

After that, he returned to his house and found four cracks at the house.

None of the International Earthquake monitoring Centres picked up any seismic activity in this area at all.

What was the magnitude of the quake, as no magnitude is recorded or reported?
