Can You Access Www.lloydstsb.com From Thailand ?

Featured Replies

www.lloydstsb.com is my main banking portal but has been completely inaccessible from Thailand this week. This site is crucial to me. I just get the standard message 'The page cannot be displayed' you see when offline. Could the Thai authorities mistakenly be blocking access? My links are via IP Star satellite on Koh Phayam, Ranong province -- tried at 2 different locations. The service is only dial-up speed but pretty reliable otherwise to all sites.

I did access Lloyds from Bangkok at a wi-fi-equipped hotel last week. As a last resort I will try landline Internet in Ranong town when I go there next week.

Can anyone suggest an alternative route or portal to get to the Lloyd's Internet banking log-on page via IP Star?

Many thanks all.

It's working for me... via IPStar from Chonburi province.

Really weird. Any computer settings worth checking? Can't even reach their home page!

Is it worth trying lloydstsb.co.uk as they have this address registered, too. It links in to lloyds tsb.com.

Scouse.

Longshot here : You could try to click on Start / Run - Type cmd in the box - In the black box that opens, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter. Type exit and press Enter.

Then try again.

Unfortunately even this does not work. Doesn't find lloydstsb.co.uk . I have never encountered such a problem as this unless the server is blocking the site -- but another IP star user can reach it.

Any other suggestions?

Try using this URL, it's the raw IP to the site and doesn't rely upon DNS. http://193.34.230.47/

Yes, the IP address gets me to the home page & information sub-pages BUT the link to 'Personal Log-On' remains as dead as the original DNS. Do you have a raw IP for that? Thanks ... at least I'm making some progress.

Hi Trevor, I tried your URL to LLoyds via my IP star . I got the same message as you received.

What I did then was to Google LLoyds and their wesite URL, which I clicked on in Google = http://www.lloydstsb.com/ this action took me straight to what you needed.

I would add that for the last 5 days - usually afternoons I have had problems with IP Star /Cslox

(plus poor cstomer service to rub salt in the wounds!)

Any other suggestions?

If z21rhd's suggestion doesn't work then try this > https://193.34.231.34/customer.ibc

If you can access that page but clicking on the continue there is still a problem then you might try this:

Open c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with Notepad

Add these two lines at the end of the file and then save it:

193.34.230.47 www.lloydstsb.com

193.34.231.34 online.lloydstsb.co.uk

Restart windows and see if you can access it normally.

I'm guessing it's more to do with HTTPS than it is to do with DNS.

Check and verify proxy settings tbh.

These notepad files did the trick. Many thanks. But still odd that I can access the site normally from an Internet shop in Ranong, yet not via IP Star on Koh Phayam.

I can access it normally too from my TOT connection. The internet shop in Ranong probably has some provider other than the one you are using. Your provider seems to have a crappy DNS server, definitely call and complain about that.

The entries in the /etc/hosts file just bypass the DNS server for all ips entered. So as long as the bank doesn't change their static ip you are fine. It's not likely, but it could happen.

Just remember that if the website breaks down for you again in a year or two, remove those entries!
