PYONGYANG/SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea displayed what appeared to be new long-range and submarine-based missiles on the 105th birth anniversary of its founding father, Kim Il Sung, on Saturday, as a nuclear-powered U.S. aircraft carrier group steamed towards the region.

ROME (Reuters) - Pope Francis, presiding at a Good Friday service, asked God for forgiveness for scandals in the Catholic Church and for the "shame" of humanity becoming inured to daily scenes of bombed cities and drowning migrants.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump nominated former Republican lawmaker Scott Garrett as president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States on Friday, completing an about-face over an institution he had denounced as "featherbedding" for big business.

Jokowi upset that China gets more Saudi investment than Indonesia does

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is disappointed when he learned that Saudi Arabia invested US$ 65 billion in China, almost ten times the Rp 89 trillion it pledged to Indonesia despite his special treatment of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during his visit to Indonesia in March, according to the Jakarta Post Online report on Friday.

Nearly 3,500 vehicles impounded for drunk driving in first three days of Songkran break

Authorities have impounded 3,460 vehicles and taken legal action against some 200,000 people for drunk driving during the first three days of the “seven dangerous” Sonkran holidays, a spokeswoman of the National Council for Peace and Order said on Saturday.

Bangkok-bound vehicles from North bring traffic congestion to Nakhon Sawan
