What happens in case of non-payment of DTAC invoice?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've been using a postpaid sim-card registered under my ex-girlfriends mother's name (at the time of registration I did not have a work permit yet). Unfortunately my ex and I separated on bad terms and I stopped using the sim-card a few weeks ago. I am now overdue on one bill (due date was 14th April) and I'm wondering now what I should do? What is the common practice if a mobile phone bill is not being paid, do they simply switch it off? Am I putting myself into a legal position I do not want to be in if I do not request my ex or her mother to close the account? As I am not the account owner I cannot simply walk into a DTAC shop and request account closure.

Any advice will be appreciated.

With Regards,

Sambora

This is a tough one. Obviously you cannot close the account, only the ex-GF's mother can do that. Are bills being sent to her address?

I'd probably pay the current bill, then send a letter written in Thai to the account holder, with all the details advising them that they should close the account, and I might include enough cash to cover one subsequent month. Keep a copy of everything. Then you've done all you can do.

Or request some authorization, letter and copy of her ID, and try to close the account yourself. Not sure if this would work?

People go over their bills all the time here and the number gets turned off.

Whats the worry here tho as the SIM isn't even registered in o/ps name??

The OPs ex-GF's Mother did the OP a solid for fronting a post-paid SIM for him. It seems only right that he make every effort to preserve the Mother's credit record history, regardless of the terms of the break-up.

Go to DTAC.. pay the bill.. explain the situation and ask them to  cancel the SIM and contact your x's mom.

When I moved into my house last year there were some DTAC Bills, I passed them on to the owner. They still kept arriving so I took them to the shop explained whoever it is doesn't live there now, they still keep coming.

There I believe are a couple of Lawyers letters I think, in Thai but look Official not sure there connected.
