Fake motorcycle taxi driver arrested for theft
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested a man who allegedly disguised himself as a taxi motorcyclist to snatch valuables from people on Sukhumvit Road.

Narongsak Niemhom, 35, was arrested at his rented room in the Ban Kluay Tai community in Bangkok’s Klong Toey district at about 5pm on Monday.

The arrest was made after a 17-year-old student of an international school in Ekkamai filed a complaint with police that her iPhone 6 was snatched by a taxi motorcyclist at about noon on April 14.

Narongsak admitted that he disguised himself as a taxi motorcyclist and roamed Sukhumvit Road looking for victims.

On April 14, the student hailed him and told him to take her to Ekkamai BTS station.

After they got there, he asked to borrowed the phone, telling the student he needed to call a friend.

When the student handed over the phone, he sped off and sold the phone for Bt10,000 at a shop inside a shopping mall on Rama IV Road.
