travelling with ILE in old passport

Featured Replies

Hi all

Hope I can get some good advice or if anybody has experience of this. We will be travelling to Thailand soon, this will be the first time since my stepdaughter come to live with me and her mother in the UK. My stepdaughter has a ILE in her old passport which has a expire date on it which we understand is the date she must enter the UK before -  which she did. Will she be ok travelling with her old passport with the ILE in and her current passport without any problems as maybe some airport staff/ immigration are not very clued up about what exactly the expire date means and that she has the right to enter/leave the UK indefinitely.

thank you for your time

regards

hi

thanks for that , but has anyone experienced any problems when travelling with an ILE with a expiry date on it in an old passport. In the past me and the wife have travelled to Thailand before she became a British citizen with her carrying two passports her old passport with her ILR in and her new Thai passport. We never had any problems but then the ILR does not have any expire date on it which could cause problems if presented to a not well informed airport/immigration worker if you get what I mean.

regards
