Bangkok musical instrument warehouse hit by blaze

By The Nation

Fire damaged a four-floor shophouse storing musical instruments in Bangkok’s Ratburana district on Saturday morning.

The fire started on the second floor of the building on Soi Pracha-uthit 27 on Pracha-uthit road at 6am.

Initially, it took about 15 minutes to control the blaze but it flared up again at 9am, prompting firefighters to go inside.

Police said the building was used to store guitars and ukuleles.

No injuries were reported. The cause and extent of the damage have yet to be established.

I hope they weren't storing decent guitars!

Actually, 99 % of the instruments available at Bangkok Music shops are legit. Fenders, PRS, etc. It is virtually impossible to find a counterfeit guitar in Thailand. You need to order from China for that.

Plus, there are a few shops in BKK where you can find high-end boutique guitars, e.g., John Suhr, James Tyler, et al, and amps.

Let's hope this wasn't one of those.

They'll likely be locally produced instruments, sold in small shops everywhere, often around 2-3000 baht or so. The established brands are mostly sold through specific dealerships... Taylor, Martin and Crafter through Music Collection, Takamine through Capital music etc.
