First entry on Non-immigrant O-A: what to bring?

Recommended Posts

Yourself and your passport.

You'll be lucky if the immigration officer says anything.

IMPORTANT Check that you have been stamped for the whole year permitted before you leave the desk.

It's the same as any other time you visited, except that they will stamp you in for one year after they see the O-A visa.

Oh and as far as what to carry, they like money in Thailand, so bring plenty of that. ;)

Congratulations!

Can I just put a Hotel name in the intended address?

Best to include the address and have the phone number handy. They have gotten stricter on wanting more than a hotel name.

Thanks. Will they stamp the whole year if it's multiple entry?

If the visa class is O-A then you should get a 1 year stay every time you enter. This means you can squeeze nearly two years out of it by doing a border hop just before the visa itself expires.

If you truly have an O-A visa just be sure they see that.

You should get a one year entry stamp on your first entry to Thailand.

Make sure they  do that and check it. Ask them if you don't see a one year stay date.

That's assuming you really have an O-A visa, and NOT a non O  multi entry visa.

I'll assume you do have what you say you have, and let it go at that.

Don't forget to put the visa number in the appropriate space on the TM.6 form (arrival/departure card) that you get on the airplane.  Some people circle the words "Visa No." that are printed on the card to ensure that the Immigrations Officer notices it.

If you forget to put the visa number, the IO will probably assume you are entering on a 30-day visa-exempt entry.

Thanks. It's a multiple entry O-A issued by the Thai embassy in Canberra,Australia.
