Police bust motorcycle theft gang in Bangkok

By The Nation

Police arrested four teenagers who allegedly formed a gang to steal motorcycles in Bangkok, using a technique they learned from YouTube.

Metropolitan Police commissioner Pol Lt-General Sanit Mahathavorn said on Saturday that the gang was busted on Friday night after police were alerted that they were about to steal bikes at Tha Din Daeng Flat community in Bangkok’s Klong San district.

Sanit said the four suspects were arrested at the flat soon after. They were identified as Traphum Apichartnun, 19, Thaen (not real name), 17, Charnnarong Sewikhan, 19, and Fluke (not real name), 18.

Police seize five stolen motorcycles.

Sanit said the gang, led by Charnnarong, gathered on their motorbikes at Soi Charansanitwong 37 before riding around looking for possible targets at various flat buildings in the city.

Charnnarong told a press conference that he had learned the technique to start motorcycles by bypassing the key and using a cutter to rewire the electric circuit.
