Ratchaburi governor says false Facebook page created with his name

By The Nation

Ratchaburi Governor Chaiwat Chuenkosum filed a complaint with police on Saturday saying his name has been used to create a false Facebook page to deceive provincial officials to transfer money to a conman.

The governor said he has no personal Facebook page so he would like to warn tambon and village chiefs in his province to be careful if they receive messages from a Facebook account with his name.

Someone used the Facebook account in the governor’s name borrowed money from several tambon chiefs and village heads, allegedly asking them to transfer funds to the account of Chavalit Thaosuwan.

Police said they would question Chavalit on whether he knows about the con or whether his name was also used without his knowledge.
