Change default language on new computer

Featured Replies

I bought a Lenovo computer and assume it's windows 10.

The default language as supplied is German, which is of no use to me, not reading German.

How do I change it to English, please.

NB the language on the toolbar lower right is ENG ( English ) so it's not that that's the problem.

Thanks for any help.

Would be good to know whether it really is Windows 10.

Assuming that English has not already been installed, this is an instruction in English language.

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/install-uninstall-languages-windows-10

You would see (in bold):

"Time & Language" -> "Zeit & Sprache"

"Region & Language" -> "Region & Sprache"

"Languages" -> "Sprachen"

"Add Language" -> "Sprache hinzufügen"

...

Maybe this is enough to "bootstrap" out of the German language.

The "ENG" in the lower right is just the keyboard layout.

(QWERTY vs. QWERTZ etc.)

I have German, English and Thai installed.

this is correct and can be accessed through the Settings in Windows 10

Went to settings and found the required information. Changed the default to English ( American ) and hopefully that will work.

Google is still attributed to Deutchland, but the language is English.

Unfortunately, the AVG program that I installed previously is still in German, but I was busy on google translate before thinking to ask on here.

Thanks again.
