Authorities in Pangnga have moved in heavy equipment and have mounted emergency measures after a stretch of beach was seriously eroded in recent storms.

The area affected is in the Ban Pak Koh in the district of Koh Khor Khao where many homes were also subject to flooding.

Trucks have been making deliveries of "big bags" to shore up defenses and piling work will be carried out after the area was declared a disaster zone.

The local authority said the area had been buffeted by winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour and waves of three meters and more is expected until at least June 9th, Friday.
