European wire colors in HomePro?

Featured Replies

Was browsing round HomePro the other day and noticed the rolls of twin power cable were coded in Brown/Blue not the usual Black/Grey.

Has Thailand changed it's electrical wire color coding or is this just an odd batch?

This could lead to some interesting future house wiring set ups  :whistling:

Why don't they also have brown/blue/yellow-green and 3 pin plugs ? They have sockets with 3 pins but plugs ....hard to find

PS except in the center of the universe Bangkok where everything can be found.

From what I have seen there has been a complete change over in the last few years at what the stores are selling. The new standard is brown-blue-green (L-N-G). And the ground wire is now the same size as the conductors instead of being down a step like they used to be.

I've seen this available here for a few years now.

I Should get out more

Indeed brown, blue, yellow+green is usual nowadays.

Looks like the "official" change is in effect since seven years.

old (1988) on the left vs. new (2010) on the right.

Black and grey would be used for additional phases (L2,L3).
