Ranong Visa Run

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm from the UK, and earlier in the year I done the visa run to Mynamar 2 times. I read you can only do the land border crossing twice, and read inside the office at Ranong.

Since doing this, I left Thailand for a few weeks, going back to the UK, came back and want to know if its possible to do the Mynamar visa run again. I understand its only 2 per year but would it be worth a try since I went back to the UK?

Many thanks.

It is a flat 2 visa exempt entries per calendar year at land border crossing. Going to the UK will not reset the count.

Since you have already gotten an extension of your current entry your best choice would be to go to a nearby embassy or consulate to get a single entry tourist visa that would allow a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days.

You could also fly out and back for a new 30 day entry.

Welcome to the forums!

I would add to what @ubonjoe has said that you should eventually expect problems using visa exempt entries to stay for long periods in Thailand. Up until a few years ago, this was tolerated, but you will sooner or later be told you are abusing the visa exempt process. You should start thinking about getting visas for extended stays.

Just thought I’d update this.
