BANGKOK, 14 June 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Irrigation Department (RID) has launched the Smart Water Operation Center in the hope of improving the management of water resources and preventing drought and flooding.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Gen Chatchai Sarikalya. Serving as a command center, the Smart Water Operation Center uses data from the Meteorological Department, the Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute and the Department of Water Resources to develop a plan to prevent future water shortages and deluge.

The center also offers useful advice to farmers such as which crops to grow and how much water to use.

Real time images from 17 provincial irrigation offices and data from 700 irrigation projects will be sent directly to the center, improving the center's capacity to monitor water situations across Thailand.

Important Notice from Smart Water Operation Center to all those living in Bangkok . . .

"Deluge expected.  Advise you kiss your possessions and your a$$ goodbye."

You have to love the words  in the hope of improving the management of water resources and preventing drought and flooding so maybe it will but going by past events most probably won't !

Smart Water Operation Center!   You have to be kidding.  Smart and water in the same title in Thailand!  Another oxymoron.

Smart Water Operation Center!

How about a Smart People Operation Center?

I doubt they'll be asking "Dump the Dams" Yingluk for advice.

Look they cannot even educate the people, to stop dumping rubbish in the waterways. More talk that is all they know. And an empty bucket makes the most noise!
