there are no families going 2 come here to replace the revenue generated by those walking street venues...

dirty beach, bus exhaust fumes, no footpaths or green areas no proper transport system to many more to mention

could bring the family to a massage shop have plenty of them

Don't forget, The Smell of Poo from open sewers....

Can I assume that these new rules and regulations will apply also to the bars which make up 99% of the 101 illegal structures on the seaward side of Walking Street ?

Personally im not the biggest fan of patts but imo it should be left as it is plenty of tourists and expats like it that way , so go enjoy. As for taking away all the guns what a shame:sleep:

I'm just wondering what a general strike, closing down for a couple of days, would do to get the attention of the real costs of hurting walking Street trade? Please note: wondering not suggesting....

Dont worry those laws will never be enforced They are not worth the paper they are written on And the biggest question is? Who will enforce them ? THE POLICE:partytime2:

Don't worry, all this fuss over nothing, no-one is going out of business.
The bars will still run as bars, so you can go and get your drink as usual, yes you'll have to start mid evening as they'll close at 3am

the restaurants will be open as usual so you can get your dinner before heading to the bars

the girls will just go freelance, so you'll find them all along the streets winking at you for business... actually it might even be better than before as you'll not be paying a bar fine anymore.. just negotiate the best price with the girl of your choice, it might even get cheaper with all that competition on parade!

What's the problem ????

Good Observation!

The potential big losers in all of this might be the bar owners/investors.

Loss of bar fines will cripple bars and gogos.

And if they do not agree just close WS and turn it into a parking lot.

The amount of money spent and earned there each night must be phenomenal. From romantic, over the sea restaurants, to live music venues. The one thing you can't do there is park!  Walking St is THE tourist  night-time attraction so I don't expect your recommendation to carry through. Even the discussion of removing the illegally constructed 101 businesses never went anywhere. There are a few derelict ex Go-Go bars there now that show no sign of being reopened or used as something else. Slowly things are changing.

Seems the police really mean business this time. Looks like the beginning of the end for Pattaya being a sex tourist destination. The same happened in Chiang Mai several years ago and here in CM the police have not relaxed the rules since. No doubts the same will happen in Pattaya.

Why? Admittedly, if the 3am closure is enforced it will limit some people's fun, but I doubt many people will be affected. The girlie bars, gogos and massage places will still there. Soi 6 will be quieter during the day without alcohol but it's hardly the end of Pattaya as we know it.

After the big police clampdowns on the bars and lady houses in Chiang Mai, many girls went freelance, mostly working from discos and hanging about the streets in certain areas of the city during the late hours at night. This lasted for a few years but eventually the police cleared that lot away as well. In the street areas where the freelancers used to hang out there is now always a large police presence. Soon the patches where the street girls used to work were replaced by ladyboys and even they are having difficult times plying their trade. So no, it`s not going to be so easy as you believe it will be. As what happened in Chiang Mai, once the police decide to mean business, they really do mean business and will not leave any alternatives to the bars.

Pattaya seems to be the opposite, with the girls and ladyboys soliciting on Beach Road and Walking Street being moved on, but the bars and gogos being left alone as long as they stick to the rules.

... policies that will ruin the 'adult' business in Pattaya will take away the main source of income for millions of families in Isan...

Most flawed premise of the day award.

Congratulations.

Having the local and provincial police, army, navy as well as the Provincial Authorities SIMULTANEOUSLY participating in this clean-up is totally different to the usual, scatter-gun, one-off, clean up initiatives of the past.

The Thai navy are taking over Bali Hai for their 'international regatta' and there's a Royal Cremation coming up. Right there you have two totally transparent and agreeable reasons to clean up the yard but I am pretty confident that the convenience of the timing of these two public events are only being capitalized on for the bigger picture.

So how do the Chiang Mai police earn their income?

This is a serious question!

Their government pay cheque of course.

Seriously, what are you suggesting?

I think you're right about the link, but I think things will be back to normal eventually. The "clean-up" is very limited, with only day time soi 6'ers and all night drinkers really being affected.

Seriously Pattaya has nothing to offer without Bars, Prostitutes and beer. That's all Pattaya has going for it, It's a dying sex tourist destination as it is.

2 great waterparks, numerous shopping malls, markets, abundance of restaurants and international chains, nong nooch gardens, the list could go on and on.

Must be Hell for the Thai Millatry to get given such a job. Seeing that's where all the Sailors head for on Shore leave ..Cobra Gold causes Pop Up Girly places to open up around Thailand. All rather pathetic .?[emoji481]
