PATTAYA: -- Pattaya news reported that the organization that runs the baht buses or song thaews in Pattaya are adding new routes to existing services.

Bus boss Thawat Pheukbunnark took reporters on a tour of his new streamlined and more convenient service yesterday.

Route 4 will now encompass Sai 2, Route 5 will visit more stops in Jomtien and Walking Street, Route 6 will add Soi Bua Khao and Route 7 that before went from North Pattaya to Jomtien via Central Pattaya will add stops in Jomtien Sai 2.

Thawat said that the new stops and other measures introduced to determine where the services should pick up passengers will add to the service and help solve traffic problems at the resort.

The more this "organization" tries to control song thaews the more they screw up.

There was nothing wrong with the routes or operations before, just too many song thaews on the roads.

Some more details in the full Thai article. Anyone living in those new condo buildings on Jomtien 2nd Road should be pleased. And apparently as of June 20 there are experimental minibuses on four routes. Cant say that I've noticed them.

Google translation:

"Recently, Mr. Thawat Pakdeeboon, Chairman of Pattaya Second Road Railway Cooperative Along with the cooperative committee. He led a team of reporters to the experimental areas of the four new routes proposed by the cooperative to modify the new route, the route number 4, which originally ran between. Bang Lamung District - The pier. This route will be extended to run on Pattaya 2nd Road. Route 5 originally ran between Jaroenrat Road - South Jomtien Beach Road, the route will be extended to include the Beach Road and within the Walking Street. Route 6 originally ran Pattaya Circle - South Pattaya - Naklua. This route will add a road inside Soi Buakao. And Route 7 will originally run the line. North Pattaya - Central Pattaya - Jomtien will be added to the Jomtien 2nd Road.

Mr. Thawat Pakdeeboonnak, Chairman of Pattaya Second Railway Cooperative, said that the reason for asking for additional routes in Pattaya public bus or minibus. Nowadays, the city of Pattaya is growing more and more. The original route that the cooperative has applied for concession for decades. Does not regulate the service of people and tourists. Also to reduce the cost of living for people on the journey. Pattaya Bus Co-operative has requested to extend 4 additional routes, which are currently being considered by the Central Government. The route is expected to be published in the Government Gazette within the next 6 months. Initially, from 20 June 2016 onwards, Pattaya and transportation have provided experimental minibus to serve the public and tourists on the four routes that have been requested. To facilitate people and tourists. Waiting for the announcement of the official route. In line 7 North Pattaya - Central Pattaya - Jomtien. There are 20 public and tourist cars which are not expected to meet the needs of the people. The cooperative will distribute the car from the line 6 running Pattaya Circle - South Pattaya - Naklua. There are 340 cars to run on line 7. There will be no increase in the number of cars from the original. Not to be a social problem The 30-seat accommodation is aimed at the community and the people are living in large numbers. Should be labeled to suit the area. To facilitate the public and tourists. As for the adjustment of the driver and the passenger who did not fall down at the pickup point, a letter will be made to the member at the pick-up point. There is a two-wheeler instructor in charge to inform passengers of government policies on boarding a minibus at the pick-up point. Together with the Thai-English and Chinese languages, the public relations signs are made up of three languages, which are another way to generate awareness and follow government policies."

Does this mean we will no longer see a head to toe chain of these buses on second road every evening?

30 within eye view.

28 private hire only.

2 full.

Faster to walk. I know. I've done it.

They are confusing us and the Thais with their day by day rules. More money for fines i guess. Would be nice if they told us what rule the new rule is replacing because i have a hard time keeping up

Those not on one of the baht bus routes might beg to differ regarding 'nothing wrong with the routes'.

I love baht buses; every ten baht I give them takes away money from the meterless taximeters.

Hard to beat the convenience of the darn things. Always was and is one of the nicest things about Pattaya, except of course when they over did it and had way too many of them.  But geez, walk down the street, wave down a ride, pay a fraction of one USD.  Safer than a motorbike and it will likely get you to 90% of the places you need to get to.  Love em

Anyone know what baht bus to take at Pattaya bus stop. The thai baht buses in the bus station charge 50 baht to go to beach road.

yes, a baht bus map/route would be very helpful with translated thai words on these buses to indicate what route they are taking.

How does one know where these supposedly designated stops are ? I think they stop wherever they like, or not, as is their whim.

They stop wherever there is a passenger that wants to embark/disembark. Sometimes it is only a few meters between stops. If passengers got their act together getting on or off whre others are doing the same and walking a bit then then whole thing might actually get better. It is not the bus driver that controls the bus it is the passengers. I've even seen passengers wait by a pedestrian crossing and when the baht bus arrived and stopped it blocked those crossing from the other side. 2 meters away was a loading/unloading zone, but the <deleted> passenger couldn't be bothered to walk that.

Just walk to the main road and take the normal 10 baht bus, it will take you to beach rd .

There is a red bus stop outside the Gems shop. Those new to the city arriving at the bus station are viewed as fair game for being ripped off.
