I have Fibromyalgia and have been taking Gabapentin for

about six months.

I got really fat and went on a diet about 2 months ago.

I haven't lost any weight,I think it's the Gabapentin.

I have been reading forums about this problem.

Some say change to Cymbalta as it doesn't cause

weight gain.

I am also taking Amitripiline and Tramadol.

My main question is can is Cymbalta sold in Thailand

and how much does it cost but I am open to any other advice

on different medicines that I could replace it with..

Cymbalta is available in Thailand but expensive as it is an import. I don't know how much but certainly more than Neurontin brand Gabapentin (and much more than local brands of gabapentin). I am also not sure you can get it outside of a hospital (can't find its classification listed).  You can try asking a pharmacy (a proper pharmacy, you won't find this at counters in Boots etc nor will they be likely to know. A large pharmacy).

Important: It should not be taken with Amitritiline or any other tricyclic.  (Can trigger serotonin syndrome which can be serious).

Some people also gain weight with Cymbalta. With both drugs it is usually due to fluid retention not actual fat.

If you have not recently done so, have a thyroid panel done. Make sure it is a full thyroid panel not just TSH. Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain/difficulty losing weight and is also thought to be a possible cause of fibromyalgia.

diuretics might help but need to discuss with your doctor as they can cause other probklems (electrolyte imbalances)

Limiting salt intake may also help
