Hello,

My wife and I (both American) want to do a holiday tour of northern Thailand and Laos. Is it possible to rent a car or truck in Bangkok and drive through Laos border and back?

Talk to Hertz, or a company similar, and ask is your best bet

You can rent from private but I doubt many people would want to take the risk.
