KAMPHAENH PHET: -- Flash floods hit an urban area of Kamphaeng Phet early Thursday, affecting about 400 families.

Hours of torrential rain resulted in flash flooding in the downtown area of Pran Kratai district at 4am, inundating the main road.

Vehicles were slowed to a crawl on Kamphaeng Phet-Sukhothai Road, which was 30 centimetres underwater.

District chief Anon Apicharttrakul and Thani Thanyapote, governor of the upper central province, led an inspection of the area, visiting affected residents.

Officials said about 400 families were affected in tambon Pran Kratai, Tham Kratai and Ban Pran.
