NLA confident election to take place as planned

BANGKOK, 30th June 2017 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly has expressed confidence that the much-anticipated general election will take place as planned in the national reform roadmap.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said today that political groups and parties shouldn't jump to a conclusion that the election would be delayed from the period scheduled in 2018 because of any disagreements over passing some draft organic laws.

Mr. Pornpetch stated that the legislature has complied with a number of laws and every step has been in accordance with the scheduled.

He also believes that the dispute over the adoption of the primary vote system will soon be resolved and this will not lead to the postponement of the election.

NLA Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai added that no one should look at the process to pass organic laws under the new Constitution as a political game, as the legislature has been working hard and with clear focus while not being influenced by any other parties.

Hmmmm...could there be some other groups that don't view themselves as political parties who could have influence over the JUNTA-appointed NLA?
