French National, UK Resident - 6 month visa in Paris or London?

Featured Replies

Hello, I m a French national and have been a resident in the UK for 10 years (I have a UK address and bank account).

I want a 6 months multi entry tourist visa for Thailand, where do you think I am better off applying to secure that, in Paris or London? Thank you

Thank you. I suppose a UK bank statement with my address is proof enough? I'll have to provide that anyway. I also have a UK driving licence...

This announcement of the METV mentions a UK/Ireland residence card. http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/en/node673

I suspect that something more substantial like your current assured shorthold tenancy agreement (assuming that you are renting the address you are living at) will be needed.

A person with an EU passport will not have and does not need a "residence card" to live/work in the UK.

EU freedom of movement rules apply.

If you have something showing you are resident in the UK for tax purposes, that would be better I think.

Thank you. I think I've got what's needed. I am self employed and will bring my tax return receipt plus my tenancy agreement and the bank statement. As for accommodation in Thailand, I suppose I can use booking.com and book a hotel for the first 2 months. A one way plane ticket is all they require.

I am pretty sure it should all be OK. Should I not get the visa in London, can I then try in Paris?
