BANGKOK: -- Sanook reported on a story of two Chinese tourists who were ripped off for a short motorcycle taxi ride from Phayathai BTS to their hotel near the Victory Monument.

What might have been around 100 baht even for two people became a big argument outside the hotel on Thursday as hotel staff attempted to help.

The rider said he had brought them from Udom Suk (Sukhumvit 105) but the tourists could not speak Thai so there was confusion.

After an altercation the hotel staff were obliged to let the "win" rider go believing that he had given 400 baht change from a 1,000 baht note.

But it later emerged when the tourists complained to the front desk that the rider had made off with two thousand baht of their money for a journey of just a few kilometers.

And one of them was hurt as he grabbed their cash.

A report was made to Phayathai police after the hotel helped out.

Though the bike had no plate the rider's jacket stated that he was part of the "Ratchathewi" rank with "Soi Seua Yai" written below.

Hmmm,...you might be right in this one !!! Ex pats are noticing a trend !!!

Looks at the positives, some Chinese tourist money that will actually stay in Thailand!

These motorbike taxis are getting crazy with their prices. Getting so greedy and ride and expensive if your white now you pay double. I never use them and avoid them at all costs

Must be difficult for these motorcycle taxi guys to rip somebody off!  It's not as though they have a meter that they don't use!

It's getting to the stage now in bangkok, that if you haven't got your own transport, walk or avoid Bangkok.

I find this hard to believe.............a thai ripping of a tourist....now come on,it must be a mistake :whistling:

So he was not a win , just like that guy who was not a taxidriver who raped a chinese tourist yesterday.

Fake plates, no plates, unregistered plates are all same same from now on, this guy was not a win so why is this news?
