Any idea what this chap is?

He's currently residing in our big tank with 1,000,000 guppies and the like. One of the boys caught him in the khlong, and, having determined he couldn't eat it, gave it to Wifey, he's doing sterling service cleaning the glass.

Looks like a
Hypostomus plecostomus, the suckermouth catfish
Good cleaners and get on with most other species of fish.

Yeah, he certainly seems to be one of the pleco family. Doesn't bother the guppies.

Currently about 3" long, if he gets too big for the tank he can move in with the koi.

An old thread about them

He can get huge ...

Yup 50cm or so apparently, and when he does there's a 20,000 litre koi pond for him to keep clean

they are kind of cute when little ... but, like dinosaur fish when they are big.  Really tough to kill (sadly i had 2 that got way to big for my 90 gallon tank .. i chopped their heads off ... all bone)

Probably why the boys decided "cannot eat", he'll be fine with our carp some of which are nearly that size now.

Sort of on topic (not really), we have family in the UK who are tropical fish enthusiasts including No.3 Daughter's hubby.

He was looking in the river whilst we were having lunch and telling us just how much (in GBP if they were in the UK) was swimming around free and coming up to eat the waste food.

Shame they're difficult to ship (and illegal in some cases).
