Luckily, I've lived life enough that if I die tomorrow, I'll not be leaving much on the table, health wise.  Of course, there is always the risk of not dying tomorrow, but I'll burn that boat when I get to it.

 

JT: cup of instant coffee with milk, as often as not with a cup of cartonned fruit juice.  From time to time I'll have curry at the chapatti shop, if I'm on a samosa run, and if I have a long bike ride, I'll stop at Subway near the metro for a sandwich

2 slices of wheat toast, lightly buttered ( well Flora-ed if I'm honest), with Bovril ( beef extract, not yeast extract like Marmite or Vegemite)on.
English breakfast tea with milk or sometimes Jasmine green tea.
2 large glasses of water.
2 small oranges + 1 banana.

Occasionally swap the toast for cereal ( Nestle Fitnesse or similar) with sliced banana on top.
If no oranges then some other fruit, right now I'm into dragonfruit, bought 5 kilos from the " man with a van " tonight.

This is at home, outside the house will probably skip breakfast and have an early lunch of Thai food.

Definitely fresh coffee and juice, whole grain bread with butter and cheese, some form of egg and sometimes granola and milk.  But always Thai a few mornings a week, (5'3", 49-50kg, can bounce a 10baht coin off her arse (the wife)) :post-4641-1156693976:

I eat for results not for taste so I tend to eat the same things day in day out. 

vegetables fruits nuts seeds sprouts rice sweet potato fish vitamins supplements and lots of oils. coconut olive pumpkin seed oil etc

I vary it at home; boiled eggs, sometimes poached or scrambled, toast and jam or marmalade, sometimes Kellogs cornflakes. Always have a glass of tomato juice and a strong cup of tea.

Might have breakfast out once or twice a week; variations on bacon and eggs (Coffee Clubs' bacon, eggs, sourdough toast and fried tomatoes is my current favourite for 145 Baht with tea or coffee).

From home; UK; I really miss Warburtons potato cakes. Delicious with best butter.

does no-one else swallow down a little bile for breakfast, as they struggle to find a taxi and their trousers (OR- should've said "OR their trousers")

Most mornings go like this (breakfast is rarely served before 8am here, often past 10am):

One big cup of coffee, one  glass of orange juice.

If there's bread about then a couple of fried eggs, sunny side up. Otherwise an omelette (stuffing optional) or scrambled eggs.

Fried bacon, or sausage (usually a smoked bacon sausage).

Raw onion slices/rings.

Cookies (for the coffee), current favorite are apple-pie ones.

 

Other things often present (or replacing others) are croissants (not that great, but serviceable), pesto paste, and honey. Now and then some pau (red pork or cream for me, don't care for the egg and grey matter variety).

 

About once a week (usually weekend), coffee and what the Mrs. calls "thin pancakes", otherwise known as Blini or Blintzes. 

 

The standing emergency option is Nestle Fitness flakes, mixed fruits. If possible, with that milk that comes in golden color little bottles (the name escapes me).

 

Great...now I'm hungry. Meh.

First, an introduction. Yes, that's needed.

Don't say I didn't warn y'all.

 

I rotate two set of breakfasts types.

Lighter usually the cereal set and Heavier for days I exercise.

So one day the "light" and then the next day the "heavy" and so on.

 

Common to all is the "Holey Trinity Plus One of Fruit and Nuts/Seeds" (freshly named)

 

That would be:

5 almonds

1 Brazil nut

tablespoon Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

1 Banana (or multiple mini-bananas)

 

So with that, I'll start with the "light" non-exercise days menu:

 

LIGHT DAYS MENU

 

First things first --

Eat one almond

Eat one Brazil nut

 

Then assemble in cereal bowl --

4 almonds (making the 5 total)

tablespoon Pepitas

tablespoon flaxseed freshly crushed into mortar and pestle

 

very small portion of no sugar shredded wheat mini biscuits (American brand)

OR

1/3 cup plain no sugar oatmeal meusli (Australian brand)

 

very small portion of puffed grain, corn or Kamut (American brand) (always)

 

Sliced banana, smaller one if available, it's the "light" day

Sliced fruit (pineapple, cantaloupe, papaya, or apple)

 

Put about 1/3 of a large container of low fat no sugar plain yogurt in the bowl.

Pour in a large glass of water (cold or near frozen)

Mix to create a kind of "yogurt milk"

Add a tiny amount of coconut oil

 

After ...

COFFEE!!!!!  (For all breakfasts, thank God I'm not a Mormon!)

 

Occasional alternatives for "light" day.

One hard boiled egg

Small portion yogurt

Fruit (preferably an orange)

 

OR

 

1 slice of grainy bread with no sugar crunchy peanut butter and French fruit jam

Sliced avocado, small portion if Haas, larger if the watery low fat non-Haas type

 

Some low fat plain yogurt

 

Salt and pepper on the matzo brie and salad part.

Finish with fruit, preferably an orange.

Very similar to egg option one except the egg is just an omelette type thing served with a slice of bread on the side (no matzo).

The avocado sometimes just a spread on the bread, depending on type of avocado and availability.

SARDINES

 

Start by eating --

Holey Trinity plus one minus one (pepitas on salad)

 

On plate can of sardines, drained.

Sliced hard boiled egg.

Salad -- Sliced red onion, chopped tomato, pepitas, sliced celery usually, Thai or Mexican chili, sometimes some black olives

KIMCHI (yep)

Some low fat plain yogurt

Some bold deli MUSTARD

Salt and pepper on the salad and fish

One tablespoon extra virgin olive oil on the salad

Squeezed fresh lime on the fish and salad

One slice bread like rye or caraway, with avocado spread, or more avocado on the plate if non-Haas

 

Occasional options.

 

Smoked Salmon.

Start by eating --

Holey Trinity plus one

 

Two slices bread.

Sometimes pita bagel bread.

Small spread of cream cheese.

Then more spread of avocado

Sliced red or white onion, chopped chili Thai or Mexican, sliced tomato

Top with smoked salmon

Finish with fresh fruit, preferably an orange

This of course is my favorite!

 

Another option, bigger bread/peanut butter thing.

 

Start by eating --

Holey Trinity plus one

2 slices of grainy bread with no sugar crunchy peanut butter and French fruit jam

1/2 juice box no sugar bulked up by mixing in large glass of ice water

That's it.

Yes, really. 

 

With other meals in the day, I mix it up like mad.

On heavy breakfast days, it's not uncommon for me to only eat one more meal in the day and maybe just a snack later. 

 

About  bananas.

I would totally freak out if I missed even one day without my breakfast banana!

Coffee, too, of course, but that's predictable.

I need to eat more sardines and mackerel according to my old doctor in UK. Oily fish is especially good for you. Salmon counts. I too cannot go a day without a banana. It is 2 to 3 hours after brekkie when I eat mine.

This is my weekly breakfast routine, it depends when I wake up , sometimes i might skip breakfast and go for a light lunch instead, 

 

Oat porridge 4 times per week .  But not an ordinary oat meal. After it's cooked (Hahne blue type)  I add cinnamon, brown sugar, frozen berries (boysen or blueberries) and 3-4 tablespoons of natural Yolada yoghurt . Mixed together and maybe a bit of whole milk in it.  

- I also eat 4 brazil nuts every morning. 

- 1 cup of coffee 

- one glass of coconut water

- multivitamin and mineral capsules

 

The other 3 days of the week I eat eggs for breakfast , with toasted rye bread, fried tomato, and anything else I might add into the pan. 

 

I also need to mention I eat some fruit between meals , but not for breakfast , normally in the afternoons , papaya, pineapple, melon or a banana .

Correction to the peanut butter/jam on grainy bread options.

 

1/2 juice box no sugar ... 

Should be

1/2 juice box no sugar SOY MILK ...

 

NEVER juice.

 

The "French jam" that I use is commonly sold in Thailand French "concentrated fruit spread" St. Dalfour brand, "no added sugar" but that's false advertising, it's a sweet thing. 

 

Any option where BANANA wasn't mentioned I eat the banana after the Holey Trinity first course.

Usually a variation on a spicy fried egg sandwich. I make my own bacon, so it usually gets in there, or sausage. The types of bread change from time to time, sometimes croissants. I get some mayo and cheese in there, sometimes a dash of suki sauce. I change it up. Alternatively I will make fried rice, or if the kids are having pancakes I'll have some.

But always there is an an egg or two involved. When we run out of eggs I go hungry. I used to have Jok or oatmeal on occasion, but I keep forgetting to buy it.

Of course if there is leftover pizza, that is pièce de résistance. There no better breakfast food on earth than last nights pizza. But I use a secret reheat method that makes it sing.

JT has a nice, practiced program set out....I have a wife.....She almost demands that what I eat is healthy & shops/prepares accordingly....

That being said - I've never been food centric in my life....

Eat pretty much when I want & it's more like a necessary pit stop....Enjoy & keep on keeping on.....

 

Although we eat in nice restaurants ,it's not as Important to us as it is to some to circle around the next trendy or look for the must try places....That's kind of a city-fied outlook....

 

My wife is Thai so the next meal is always semi-planned but we don't revolve our life around it in a searching sense....Guess we have an easy approach....

 

Now - back to brekkie....

Man....I take some time to be able to tell the difference between my razor and my toothbrush in the morning. Some "almost" accidents over the years. No way I could follow through this process. Not that I'd want to, mind. Guess I didn't have that healthy lifestyle wake up call yet. Or maybe just said it was a wrong number and went back to sleep. What do you do if you're an almond short, that's what I'd like to know. Also, is it really possible to eat only five almonds? I grew up in a household where a handful was considered "a few".....

My people know how to count nuts.

 

 

Just today the current bag had 4 left. I actually considered just leaving it at that. But then thought Naw that ain't right and opened another bag for the one nut to make five.

 

So just keep a spare bag in stock. No worries.

You know that when you respond to a post you don't have to copy the whole bloody thing. It already takes up best part of a page and people keep copying it.

Warmed ham and cheese croissant and a medium cappuccino at Dean and Deluca if I have anything at all.

 

Edit: Often my first meal of the day is a krapow moo at 1130am to avoid the lunchtime scrum.
